Walking Meditation at Lambda Zen Temple

Walking meditation (kinhin) is an essential practice at Lambda Zen Temple, connecting our formal sitting meditation with mindful movement in the stunning alpine environment of Glarus, Switzerland.

These photographs capture moments of contemplative walking in the mountains surrounding our temple. Each step becomes a meditation, each breath synchronized with the rhythm of the earth beneath our feet.

The practice of kinhin teaches us to maintain the same mindful awareness we cultivate in zazen while moving through the world. In the natural setting of the Swiss Alps, this walking meditation takes on a profound dimension as we become one with the mountain paths and alpine meadows.
